This unit introduces you to the internal components of routers. You will learn about the information stored by the different router components and about the LAN and WAN interfaces on a router that provide network connectivity to the router.

This unit also describes the initialization process as well as the different configuration sources. A router can be configured from the console port, the auxiliary port, a network management station, a TFTP server, or from virtual terminals.

The Cisco IOS commands that are used during router startup and the functions of the different router modes are also covered. You will learn the main commands that can be executed from each mode.
